Enrolment Fee
You will be asked for an Enrolment Fee of $50 to secure your families spot at Healing Waters. This is a contribution towards costs incurred by Healing Waters during our comprehensive enrolment process. This Enrolment Fee is an out-of-pocket cost and cannot be billed to the NDIS. NDIS
For NDIS payments, there are several support category options. Please go to the NDIS page for details. You’ll also find info on Goals, Outcomes, a useful Case Study and Evaluation there.
Carer organisations
As a carer you may be eligible for a Tailored Support Package offered though Carer Gateway. If your child has limited funds in their NDIS plan this can be a good option to consider. Carer Gateway Tailored Support Packages can be used for a range of supports to help you in your caring role including planned respite to take a break at Healing Waters. To speak to your local Carer Gateway service provider about services and supports available, call 1800 422 737 and select Option 1. The Carer Gateway website (www.carergateway.gov.au) also has useful information and resources and also has a ‘call back’ form to submit to your local Carer Gateway service provider who will then contact you at a date and time convenient for you. If you live in regional Queensland you could also try BUSHKids. If this organisation is unable to fund a larger amount they will often help with the deposit.

Enrolment and Eligibility
Family enrolments are for families of up to a maximum of six people.
The program is open to young people to adult age (7 to adult age).
Additional NDIS people, and other siblings, outside of this age range are welcome to attend with their family, but, to ensure the safety of all attending, we cannot provide for them in our activities programs between 8.30am-3.30pm each day. There are lots of great things for you to do with them before or after your camp. Please look through suggested activities for your family under the location you are applying for. For babysitting and disability support worker options please see our FAQs page (to be updated).
We work on a 1:1 carer ratio for high needs catergory people taking part in our day activities. High needs catergory must be able to participate in group sessions with their peers. Behaviour challenges and communication needs will be discussed in your intake interview.
We welcome undiagnosed young people in our program, however, at least one young person in your family must be formally diagnosed.
As part of our Camp Family Enrolment process you will be asked to provide proof of diagnosis and during our camp intake
process you will be asked for other medical details for all of the young people attending as part of your family.

All other fees listed in the Camp Agreement are refundable until 10 clear business days before camp. In the event that HW has
to postpone your camp due to Covid-19 restrictions (or bushfire or some other matter beyond our control as noted in the
Camp Agreement), your family will be offered alternative camp dates.
In the event that a family wishes to postpone or book alternative camp dates after a Camp Agreement has been signed (Stage 6) a $80 administrative fee will be charged. In the event that a family has to postpone or cancel, ten clear business days’ written notice will be required. All fees associated with postponements/cancellations made within 10 clear business days of the camp are non-refundable. Our cancellation terms are balanced to share the risk between our charity and families. We support this by running a standby list so often there are families who can step in on late notice. We will always endeavour to fill late cancellation spots from our standby list but we cannot guarantee this.
If you have NDIS and/or Carer funding in place your Enrolment Fee should be your only out-of-pocket expense. If you don’t have NDIS and/or Carer funding you are welcome to pay those costs as out-of-pocket expenses to attend our camps.
We accept enrolments from overseas with all costs being paid as out-of-pocket expenses.

NDIS REQUIREMENTS
NDIS Funding Information
Attendance at Healing Waters (HW) will be subsidised with funding support from the NDIS, through your individual plan (Plan Managed and Self-Managed only - not NDIA/agency managed).
Why will the NDIS fund attendance at an Healing Waters Adventure Camp?
• We are an Aboriginal Organisation, run by Aboriginal teams in the culturally appropriateness in relation to connecting our NDIS participants to their country, land, culture and their people
• We are evidence-based
• We are Supports-led - we pride ourselves on having significant and where appropriate local representation at every level of the organisation, are informed by lived experience and engage in positive lived-experience role modelling
• We listen, engage and uplift Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices, constantly evaluating and improving to be the best we can be for all our people.
• We are passionate about driving life changing outcomes for those living with a disability around mental health and wellbeing,
employability, economic participation, education, and ultimately life expectancy.
• Our results speak for themselves.
Qualitative Evaluation Data
• We aim to have captured data to provide the the most comprehensive camp program in Australia, for families of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living with a disability.
• We aim to have our programs are tried-and-tested, in order for the results to speak for themselves. We aim to evaluation data from the past years showing feedback from families, in the areas of:
- improved skills/knowledge
- increased motivation and confidence
- had a boost to self-esteem, mental and physical health and resilience
- reduced social isolation and enhanced social networks
- achieved improved capacity and resilience in emotional and behavioural functioning

Goals
With this in mind, if your family member or participant receives NDIS support you may wish to consider including the following goals in your plan:
Goal 1
I would like to learn to recognise and manage anxiety (meltdown) triggers, so that I am able to better emotionally regulate at home and in the community.
Goal 2
I would like to develop my communication skills so that I can increase my participation in social and community activities, and create and maintain new and existing relationships.
Goal 3
I would like to challenge myself with new activities and develop positive self-esteem and confidence in my strengths, and acceptance of my difficulties and differences, to enable me to be more independent.
Goal 4
I would like to improve my social skills to increase my social and community participation and reduce my social isolation and
vulnerability.
Support Categories
There are three main support category options we can invoice for the camp from:
CORE We can bill to any category in CORE 04_104_0125_6_1 Increased Social and Community Participation - Participation In Community, Social And Civic Activities or
Or
CAPACITY BUILDING 09_011_0125_6_3 Community Participation Activities
This is a very specific category. It is not the same as some of the other categories which mention ‘assistance with social and community participation’.
Please ask to have the camp funded specifically in one of the above two categories when negotiating your new plan with your Local Area Coordinator (LAC). We are happy to provide a quote for you.
Many participants have most of their funding in Capacity Building (CB) Daily Living. We CANNOT bill for the entire camp from CB - Daily Living. The most we can bill from CB Daily Living is $7372.95. Any additional costs can be billed to CORE and/or as an Out-of-Pocket Expense. Out-of-Pocket costs attract GST.
Outcomes
It is advisable to discuss the outcomes and benefits of attending a camp with members of your key support team and, if they
are happy to do so, have them endorse the benefits in terms of capacity building from your attendance at a camp in their
report for your NDIS planning meeting.
Short Term Outcomes
• Participants experience a ‘safe’ environment alongside other participants and their families and supported by specialised team members. They share stories and experiences with people who have lived experiences or are living within other family.
• Participants feel a sense of relief from social isolation and form new valuable and reliable social connections with people from their community.
• Participants are able to ‘just be’ while at camp. The expectations of day-to-day mainstream life are put to one side, and they are encouraged to celebrate their identity and culture. Participants engage with positive role models and experience inclusion, acceptance and autonomy.
• Participants are engaged in therapies, education, skills development and peer-to-peer support as part of the program. They benefit from increased knowledge, understanding and training.
• Participants in the programs build capacity in confidence, self-reliance, independence and self-advocacy skills.
Medium Term Outcomes
• Participants form long and lasting friendships. They meet with, and talk with new friends, and reach out to other members in their community. They have increased social supports. They foster a strong sense of belonging and increase their social cohesion, connection and functioning within their ‘safe’ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
• This new sense of inclusion, acceptance and autonomy is empowering for participants. Their new approach is transformative, reducing anxiety and building self-worth. Participants experience an improvement in their mental health.
• Participants are able to participate more at other programs and in everyday life. Their new found confidence helps them
navigate the often confusing idiosyncrasies of sterotypical behaviour and social situations become easier.
• Families have a greater ability to maintain informal support of the person, to advocate for, and support them to participate
and contribute to community and enjoy an enduring and mutually sustaining relationship.
• Parents experience an increase in confidence and this enables them to explore new opportunities like volunteering, work
placements, training and apprenticeships, as well as practical assistance and supports.
Long Term Outcomes
• With their new family friends, participants feel supported to try new things. They have much higher engagement and participation rates in mainstream social and community activities. This results in a much stronger sense of connectedness in their broader community, and in turn, gives them the confidence and connections to access support networks, community services and other new opportunities of social, civic and economic participation.
• Participants experience a sustained increase in self-worth and wellbeing and improvements in mental and physical wellbeing. They regularly engage in self-care and are better able to care for and support themselves and their family members.
• Participants experience a cumulative increase in confidence, community connection, skills, knowledge, training and independence improving readiness for economic participation, employment and education. Reduced levels of welfare dependency in the long-term.
The Healing Waters Programs combines group sessions with adventure and art/craft filled activities. All activities are capacity building, encourage communication, teamwork, self-confidence, self-care, peer-to-peer relationship building, emotional regulation and most importantly, access to their local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
